They are absolutely Real radar that can be the same frequency as a LEO's, however I still consider them falses. You won’t ever get a ticket from door openers and building alarm systems. You are correct, you won't get a ticket from door openers or alarms. But a TRUE "false alert" would be the radar going off without a radar source being present anywhere. I don't want my detector to be "real quiet". Especially if it's in an area where BOTH door openers AND police are present. If you are bothered by radar alerts, just turn the detector OFF. Or even cheaper, don't buy a radar detector at all. The detection of door openers and alarms is just part of the V1 situational awareness. The V1 is a detector for a thinking/aware driver. If people can't accept detections of real radar, then they might as well buy a plastic tupperware box and put it on their dashboard.
