Right now the range is anything but stellar, but I haven't had a good chance to compare the units, with a stationary officer, I used to see them all the time around here, and now I don't ever, haha. So, I was thinking of moving the antenna up to grill (it is currently a few inches back from it on the right...here is a shot of the front end of my car, a c30):

I want to move it to the top left (the side away from the chrome cross bar) and move it right up to a gap in the grill.

Now I have ANOTHER problem. I went on the highway, I was getting constant X alerts in city mode, so I switched it to City no-X, but I have passed cops on the highway in Michigan using X, so I want it highway mode. But I get a false every couple of minutes. They always start at a full strength 9 (I have it in strength mode) then count down through the numbers, and shuts off. Only to do the EXACT same thing a few moments later. Is this a defective unit? I will call Beltronics tommorow, I really don't want to have to pull the whole system and send it back, but I am about ready to do that. And it seems like a waste to reinstall the thing to me. My V1 works better even handicapped by that windshield.
The link you posted does not work for me. It says that the image access was denied.

The next time your on the highway, look out for a radar transmitting device that are sometimes located onto call boxes or random poles on the side of the road. They seem to be low powered, and usually set a detector off at full alert. I have experienced these in So. Cal, especially when traveling through Ventura. Every time I get a full blast K-band, I look for "the" pole with a radar/camera looking object mounted on it. Sure enough one is there. The alerts then stop as I enter Oxnard/Los Angeles area, and sure enough I don't come across anymore radar/camera looking devices.

You can call Beltronics and explain your situation, they may refund you or send you a new unit if you are under warranty. If you have the opportunity for a refund, take it and either purchase the 9500i or the 9500ci in April as you can lock these signals out.

Hope this helps.
