Unfortunately, I'm ill-equipped to answer any Bel-related questions as I'm neither a user of their detectors (although I used to be), and also have not paid enough attention to their recent technologies.
However....
In terms of HID headlights eliciting laser falses on Bel/Escort products, this is possible.
Although it never happened on my old Rev5 x50, it *did* present itself, once, very recently, on my 9500i (4307).
While I never experience such falses from vehicles which have their HIDs already engaged, the singular episode during which I *did* receive a false presented as the vehicle switched on its (aftermarket) HIDs just as I was passing within close proximity, and the angle of that vehicle and its headlights presented a direct shot to my 9500i.
It was the first such false I'd ever experienced.
Other known sources which can elicit laser falses, that may contribute to what you're observing, includes LED brake-light elements, which is now commonplace on commercial trucking vehicles and their trailers. Although this is typically more problematic with the more laser-sensitive V1s, it has been reported on Bel/Escort products, too.
Direct sunlight is also capable of eliciting falsing (my rear ZR3 element is very prone to such falses, particularly if the sunlight is rapidly "shuttered" at-speed: I can reproduce the effect with good consistency at appx. 35 to 40 MPH road-speed, on a bright and sunny day, on a densely enough tree-lined street) on the Bel/Escort products.
