Default good V1 performance on NC to Fla round trip

Got back yesterday from our trip and was good ridin for sure.

The most I ever did was 10 over the posted, but I usually set the cruise at 74-76 mph. I ran my V1, but brought along my X-50 for when I got to the destination city (Venice Fla).

V1 on the highway.. what can I say,, you get what you pay for.
Excellent warning distance of radar from both ahead and behind.
I encountered Ka bands in GA and Fla. Picked up nothing thru SC or NC (coming and going).

I traveled I-95, I-10 and I-75. For the most part roads on New years eve were suprisingly clear from 9 p.m. till 5 a.m.

Average overall speed via GPS was 73.2 mph for 730 miles on the way back and average speed for the way down was 74.0 mph for 724 miles.
Only one refueling stop on each leg.

Encountered a GA trooper the last 40 miles before Xing the GA/Fla line. He was a constant on KA and clearly picked him up at a rediculous distance (GA/Fla is alot flatter than the hills here I'm used to in NC - so got alot more distant warning than I'm used to).. so I actually pressed the mute on the V1 during the extended ramp up.

In Fla, just before the B-line to Orlando, there was a Sherrif (not FHP) sitting facing the south bound lane in the middle on a hill rise out in the open with a clump of trees to his back (keep in mind this is well after the middle of the night - 3:30 a.m) He was hittin cars with instant on KA coming up the rise.
I had an early alert (very short 3 beeps maybe), and kicked it off cruise and drop'd to 70 mph (posted limit)... then as I came up the rise BBBBBBBBBbbbbbb.... and he was maybe 200 yards off to my front left. Pretty slick as he blended in very well with his green cruiser (marked) and dark tinted windows. Without a early warning from the detector, I'd of never seen him until it was too late.

that was it when headin south.. For the most part very good travel and not much in the way of traffic, and pretty much the same on the way back.

The only encounter I had heading north was a "clump" of FHP about 4-5 marked/unmarked all sittin on the right of an off ramp, lights and radars on and they were all outside their vehicles bs'n.

So that's it. The V1 falsed very little and I was very happy with it's performance (I have the latest version). I know folks say it's "Chatty" but my experience on this trip was it was dead on and if it beep'd I slowed. ( also have the band LED mod, Green for X, Yellow for K, Red for Ka and Blue for laser on the remote display). The non LEO alerts were a few X bands and a couple K bands. I experienced no laser hits.

I switched from the V1 when in Venice/Sarasota Fla area's (City driving) and used the Passport X-50. That thing drove me nuts. Most speed limits in Venice are 35 and 45. Lot's of stop lights, strip malls, banks, grocery stores it seemed every mile an a half.. so I simply just put the X-50 away as it would've been impossible to differeniate between door openers and LE.. plus no real need to run 5-10 over in alot of them areas anyway... you'd stick out like a turd in a punch bowel going anything over that. I did try the V1 though in this radar rich enviornment and I simply turned it off as the thing never stopped alerting to X/K just as the Passport did... simply too much radar in the area period and both detectors to seperate actual LEO threat was impossible.

The only thing I could've done different was reprogram the X50 to turn off X and K, but to be honest, if I had to do all that just to get the thing to shut up.. then it's simply not worth the trouble, at least that's my opinion and I'm far from an expert.

So there's my road trip report. Hope everyone had a great and safe holiday. Was nice to be in Fla.. but it sure didnt feel like Xmas and this time of the year with the weather in the high 70's and low 80's.. Even got a sunburn... jeez.. sunburn in Dec... ha ha ha hahah..... Glad to be back in NC
But the fishin was pretty good down there though. Excellent speckl'd trout and redfish on the flats action for sure! Here's my fishin reports:
