There are only three (or four, depending on your perspective) top tier detectors. Escort, Bel, Valentine. The Whistler Pro 78 has been grouped with these lately and I've seen some videos of it giving pretty impressive results.
The Valentine One is the best highway detector
Escort and Bel tend to be better city/urban driving detectors.
Important note: The BelSTi is universally radar detector-detector proof so it's the best solution for states with detector bans. If you don't know many states with detector bans use radar detector-detectors to sniff out detector's in other cars. Both Escort/Bel and Valentine are very resistant to detection but not 100%.
