Well yes if you ordered directly from valentine one then you should have the latest upgrade, on the bottom of your unit their is a serial number, you can enter it here to see that you have the latest upgrade:

If it was beeping around the mall, stores, etc... thats called x band
.... you will learn to hate stores..... its basically from stores front doors the remote sensor that opens automatically for you...thats one false.... then other devices in the store are known for using that same band...so thats what your valentine one is detecting...almost all radar detectors will go off around that area on X band....just part of the flaw
As far as Washington/Seattle I dont believe I have heard anyone saying cops use x band ever? Correct me if I am wrong.
Put it this way it is VERY VERY rare to find a cop using x band...this is where most false alerts are from... however I have heard reports from other members every once in awhile that find a cop using x band...but I would say 95% is k band or ka band and laser that you need to worry about.
With that said...if you are willing to risk it turn off X band on your radar detector...thats what I do on mine...and I still have yet to ever find a cop use x band, ever. But all it takes is just ONE time....so its a question whether you are willing to risk it or not....
