I have both the X50 and Whistler XTR-690 (same platform as the Pro 78), and I have noticed that the X50 gets better range on K band.
I'm not sure on KA band but I would guess the X50 edges the XTR-690 just slightly.
My dad is currently using the XTR-690 and loves it tho!
